Hotel - Day Two
We arrived at our beautiful, 5 star hotel last night around 8:30. After 22 hours of traveling, I think we all jumped for joy once we got to our rooms.
At the hotel |
The hotel is not only beautiful, it is very comfortable. We have our meals in the restaurant downstairs, which has already proven to be quite delicious. I had the best babagaboush of my life, which was puréed to the consistency of hummus, but with a richer taste. Speaking of hummus, the real deal is 100% better than the grocery store variety. The food culture here is meat-heavy, but that doesn't bother me. I am happy to eat Mezze for every meal.
Manama, Bahrain |
Today the sky is overcast, but it is expected to get quite warm later, in the mid 70s. Apparently there was a sand storm yesterday afternoon before we arrived, so there is a fine layer of sand on the streets and windows.
We are venturing to the Souk, which is the neighborhood outdoor market. We have a Bahraini employee from the festival escorting us around town (who happens to be a member of the national JuJitzu team). Later tonight he will take us to see a concert in Arad Fort where we will be performing on Wednesday.
Please excuse the quality of the photos. I can only post iPhone pics for now, but you can expect real pics once I am home.
I was surprised to see Google in Arabic! |
