The Thrifty Actor: Part IX

Editing Software Online (for freeee)

Fancy headshots? Check. Web domain? Check. Super smart brain? Check. Money? Errr...

Don't worry, shmoopie, because you don't need to be rich to edit your photos online for your promotional needs.

Don't Forget the Lemonade

Picnik is an online program that is basically a dumbed down PhotoShop. Easily adjust color, contrast, or fix any red-eye. You can crop or add text. If you are super bored, try uploading a picture and decorating it with their fun stickers and frames.

Google Docs

Go to Create New --> Drawing. Upload your photos, add clip art, and make a flier for your upcoming show! Also in Google Docs you can use their Word processor, Spreadsheet program, or Task List to keep all of your projects running smoothly. Can you believe all of this is free?

The Gimp

The Gimp: A more advanced photo editing software; but it is available free of charge. This program offers many advanced features like masking, blurring, and smudging. (I still haven't figured it out completely, but its great for editing out pimples or stray hairs.)

Video Killed the Radio Star

If you have a Mac, try out iMovie; if you have a PC, use Windows Movie Maker. These programs come standard installed on most new computers. You can upload audio or video clips, insert pretty pictures for a slide show, add captions, and transitions. The programs are very self explanatory, and offer templates for basic movies. Start up a YouTube channel and brand yourself!
