Living in this apartment is different than anything I've experienced previously - its almost like an artist's commune, or a dorm of art majors. Everyone here is an actor or musician, going out for appointments during the day, but spending the majority of their time preparing for the next appointment, reading, drawing, or just socialising. Everyone talks about their auditions.

There is no such thing as a 9-5 schedule.

People are constantly coming and going. Its a stream of friends stopping by to hang out, borrow things, to say hi. In my first two days here I've met half a dozen people, just by sitting in the kitchen.

Last night one of my roommates held a Meisner technique class in the living room. It was entirely legitimate, we were taking it very seriously and we all grew a little from it. I'm excited to see how I grow during next week's session. Want to take an acting course? You don't even have to change out of your pajamas.

Life here is very different than the quiet, introverted pattern I followed in Bethesda; but I like it.

  2. My house is like an artist's commune. Need acting work, go to the living room. Need new headshots? Talk to the guy in the basement. Kind of like college all over again.
